March Newsletter

Switch off for “Earth Hour”

Switch off your lights between 8:30 and 9:30 pm on March 26th and join us and billions around the globe to celebrate “Earth Hour”. Make a stand to combat climate change, stop the degradation of the Earth’s natural environment and build a better future. For more information, visit www.earthhour.org.

This year, WWF – the organizer of Earth Hour – is asking you to consider how you can go beyond the hour. So after the lights go back on, think about what else you can do to make a difference!

Black is the New Green

Wondering why our website and newsletter are designed on a black background? Since a black screen is the general “off” condition of an electronic monitor, it uses less energy and is therefore considered “greener”.

To further reduce our carbon footprint, we’ve chosen aluminium packaging because it is light-weight and endlessly recyclable. We’ll even do the dirty work for you; bring back your empty packaging for us to recycle and we will give you a discount on your next purchase.

To reduce our use of paper and respect the environment, our bottles have no outer boxes. Our brochures are made of locally sourced paper made from renewable sugar cane pulp, which we hope you’ll recycle too.

We Like Lunar

LUNAR is the lifestyle vision of fashion designer Karen Ter Morshuizen. We like her environmentally sensitive approach to design using almost exclusively natural fibers and dyes. Just as Savane is inspired by the traditional use of indigenous plants, Karen enjoys reviving old-fashioned techniques, such as hand knitting, smocking, felting, African beading and hand embroidery.

Savane will be available in LUNAR lifestyle concept stores at 44 Stanely Avenue in Milpark and 65 Loop Street in Cape Town from the end of March 2011. For more information on LUNAR and their stores, visit www.lunarlife.co.za.
