Savane Skin First Ecocert Line in South Africa

Cosmetic News Weekly, 7 February 2011

Savane Skin is a new organic skincare range that was launched recently in South Africa, the only skincare range in the country to receive certification by the international body Ecocert.

Founded by Stephane Helary, who is French, and Jennifer Peters, an American, Savane Skin makes use of moisturizing and nourishing properties of indigenous plants throughout the African continent, and blends them with modern science and environmental awareness.

The result is a potent and effective line of anti-ageing products that are packaged in recyclable, eco-friendly aluminium containers.

For now there are only six products in the range: the Soothing Cleanser, Purifying Toner, Gentle Exfoliant, Anti- Aging Lift Serum, Protective Moisturiser and Balancing Face Oil. Key ingredients in the formulations are aloe ferox, rooibos, moringa, marula, jojoba, kigelia, baobab and buchu.

In keeping with the natural and organic philosophy behind Savane Skin, each product lists the percentage of organic ingredients as certified by Ecocert, which is anywhere from 68 – 96 per cent. Savane Skin also sources ingredients that have been certified as Fair Trade. Prices range from ZAR 300 to ZAR 700.
